Bachelor’s Return

Happily Ever After Reviews:

Hunter’s Review:

Clarissa Yip has become a must-read for me. In this book, she has taken a short story and done all the right things with it. While brief, she expertly set up conflict, plot, heat, and familial relationships. I left the story feeling like I had spent a lot of time with the people in the story.

James and Melissa are fantastic. They have heat when they look at each other and they steam in the bedroom. I just adored it. I think fans of really good writing and really hot love scenes will ADORE this book. I did.

Cyd’s Review:

James Bauer returns home for his sisters wedding, ready to endure the endless nagging and matchmaking. It’s not that he’s anti marriage; he just isn’t interested in settling down. Mellissa Johnson is his sister’s best friend since childhood, the ‘brat’, friend of his sister Liv.

Of course on returning home, he cannot help but notice that the brat has grown up. He can’t keep his eyes or his hands off her. Mellissa is not happy to see that James hasn’t changed; he’s still playing the field, treating her as if she’s his kid sister, and thinking that he has the right to boss her around.

Getting into a sexual relationship with Missy makes James think of things that have never entered his mind before; he’s possessive, territorial and craving more and more of Missy. Are his sister’s wedding plans addling his mind?

While I enjoyed this romance it is very predictable in a harlequin romance kind of way.

Nocturne Romance Reads:

Danielle’s Review:

Bachelor’s Return is an extremely enjoyable quick to read novella, with an interesting plot, likable characters and a steamy romance.

The plot of Bachelor’s Return is rather uncomplicated and while it does follow a predictable route, it is never the less an excellent read. It is especially good that, since it is a novella, it doesn’t have too many plot twists as this would have made the novella feel too rushed, when instead it seems to be paced well. Also, there are difficulties and issues that the characters have to work out and despite it only being a short novella the progress of the resolutions of these problems is steady.

The characters of Bachelor’s Return are what makes it stand out of the many similar novellas in its genre, as they are likable and easy to relate to. Furthermore, their personalities are balanced out well, for example Melissa is just sassy enough to be interesting to read about, but not so much that she appears annoying.

The relationship was nicely written and since they clearly had so much history between them their relationship didn’t feel overly rushed. It was also written in a way that the passion and chemistry between the main characters felt real and didn’t seem stiff or stilted.

These elements make Bachelor’s Return an excellent choice when looking for a light but fun contemporary romance.
