One Unexpected Night

The Romance Studio:

(4/13/2011)

What better way is there to celebrate the New Year than to seduce your ex-lover who is also the very man that asked you to marry him? It’s exactly what Tara Reisner planned to do the moment she heard the familiar voice from her past intrude on her lonely celebration.

Kane Matthews thought he’d never lay eyes on Tara Reisner again, even though she’s his best friend’s sister. After she turned down his marriage proposal and moved halfway around the world to study, Kane moved on. Yet he couldn’t forget her, and his marriage to a supermodel ended before it even began.

Clarissa Yip is a new author for me and let me say she’s got flavour. Her style of writing is incredible, and this book was totally captivating from the beginning. Tara taking charge in seducing Kane, knowing she was a little tipsy, was fantastic. She didn’t give him a chance to object because her clothes were coming off no matter what. Still, Tara having morning after regrets was frustrating. She was the one that didn’t want to be alone this holiday, and wanted Kane to fall in line with her wishes. If anything, it should have been Kane with regrets because he fell for her seduction – hook, line and sinker – even knowing she was a tad inebriated. Furthermore, Kane’s resistance to her initial seduction was a little frustrating also because the attraction between them was reaching the boiling point and needed to be satiated. But in saying that, Kane going to her when her brother asked him for a favour was the best option for both of them.

In conclusion, the sex scenes were beyond hot between Kane and Tara. They couldn’t get enough of each other. The plot and dialogue were brilliant with the book ending delightfully. Especially when Kane went back to Tara to beg forgiveness, and was surprised by what he walked into when he found her which made him realise that love is the most important thing in life. And on a final note, this book is definitely worth reading. It illustrates that the best planned seductions aren’t always the way to go and the unplanned ones work just as well if not better.

Raine’s Review:

Tara and Kane had gone their separate ways six years prior. Kane was the last person Tara expected to run into on New Year’s Eve, while licking the wounds from her recent break-up. Surprise and confrontation swiftly turn into hot sex followed up with regret and fleeing…only to be chased down and then snowed in together. Can they make it work this time? Or was it just a weekend fling?

One Unexpected Night is Tara and Kane’s story about lack of communication and lost time. When the two of them are finally locked in together after a blizzard makes travel too hazardous, they’re forced to face one another, confront their love, and finally talk about the past, present, and future. Fantastic story…Tara and Kane are desirable characters and the plot is fast paced and pulls the reader in so you feel the edge they ride while trying to resolve a relationship with their true loves.
